Welcome to SAM Nordic, Jemina!

Welcome to SAM Nordic, Jemina!

SAM Nordic expands its Medical Affairs team with two new stars. Let me introduce Jemina Lehto as one of two new Medical Science Liaisons. Jemina will be a valuable asset for us in the Finnish and Baltic markets.

Hello Jemina! So great to have you with us. How did you end up at SAM Nordic?

MSL as a role has been in my perspective since my Ph.D. studies and I feel it is a good fit for both my personality and competencies. I am passionate about improving cancer care so when I saw that SAM Nordic had an open MSL position I knew I needed to apply!

What do you bring to the table?
I did my Ph.D. in cancer research and drug development between Karolinska Institutet and a pharmaceutical company, focusing on finding new ways to sensitize resistant cancer cells to DNA-damaging therapies such as radiation and chemotherapeutics. After that, I worked in the pre-clinical development of anti-cancer drug candidates for clinical trials. I think my scientific approach, knowledge of cancer as complex a disease, as well as understanding of some of the challenges in cancer treatment will be valuable assets in my new role as an MSL.

So far, what is your impression of SAM Nordic and the culture here?
I have seen that SAM Nordic is a diverse group of driven professionals who are motivated to improve cancer care. During my first days at the job, I received a very warm welcome and saw what a great team spirit SAM Nordic’s people have!

What do you look forward most to, in the coming months, working at SAM Nordic?
First of all, I look forward to getting to know the team – I am sure I have so much to learn from everyone’s different perspectives since we all come from different backgrounds. I’m also very keen to start learning about SAM Nordic’s products and theragnostics more in detail to get a better understanding of the field. Finally, I’m enthusiastic to start working with customers and learn about their needs at the clinics.

What is the most valuable thing you learned, so far, in your career?
Working together is a key to success, and good communication, listening as well as sharing and trying out each other’s ideas make good teamwork.

Where will you mostly be found, when not at work?
I will be found at a gym’s group training session, trying out a new restaurant in town, or perhaps a new recipe at home. When I have more time off you’ll probably not find me very easily, as I love to travel whenever I have the chance.
